The whole concept of primers is relatively new to me, but has quickly become a favorite among most makeup artists. Primers are used to even out the skin, minimize pores and fine lines and give the face a beautiful glow. As well as giving you beautiful skin, primers also make sure your makeup lasts longer.
Primers suit all skin types, as they calm sensitive skin and make sure that oilier skin becomes more matt. The main ingredient in a primer is usually silicone, making it easy to apply to the skin after your day cream. I've tested out 3 primers that are available on the market. Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch is a white creamy primer which leaves your skin feeling instantly smooth. This primer feels like silk against your skin, and could easily be mistaken for a moisturizing day crème. It easily hides fine lines and blemishes. Definitely my favorite amongst the three, and well worth the price! SEK 250 Helena Rubenstien Magic Primer is easy to apply, and its oily texture lets it melt into the skin. This primer has a powdery pink tone and therefore not as much foundation is needed. The skin achieves a nice glow and your makeup lasts incredibly well. This product is a little tougher to cleanse away, but with a little extra makeup remover it is easily fixed! SEK 410 Lancôme La Base Pro is a gel based primer that feels wet against your skin. It leaves your skin feeling soft but unfortunately your make up won't last much longer than it would without La Base Pro. This primer has an oily wax like feel, leaving your skin looking more shiny than glowing. In other words save your money! SEK 380
