From today the team behind StockholmFashionDays.com is strengthened with one of Sweden´s biggest professionals within beauty – Jean Pierre Barda becomes our new Senior Beauty Editor.
Even though he is known for doing many things, Jean Pierre has a solid background within the beauty industry. Apart from working as a stylist, hair stylist and makeup artist, he also travels around the country to hold seminars and share his knowledge. Now everyone will have the chance to experience his knowledge on StockholmFashionDays.com Why have you chosen to work with StockholmFashionDays.com? I used to work with a printed magazine so it’s going to be extremely exciting to work with a medium that gives an exciting topicality. This is something I missed a bit working with the magazine since it has to be prepared a long time in advance. It can be really frustrating to work that way instead of working with a medium that is more immediate. When it comes to StockholmFashionDays, I like the layout and content. It feels like a newspaper with the content being spread in the different categories. I also like the focus on Sweden – after all – this is where we are and there are so many excellent good Swedish products and fashion labels. A big bonus is that the site is bilingual so it reaches out to an international audience and that helps to promote the Swedish industry in a professional sense. What can you add to the site? I think I have a lot to add, not least the practical experience I have from my work as makeup artist and hair stylist. I have genuine knowledge about products since I work with them on a daily basis. My Swedish/French background is something that gives me an interesting perspective that I think can inspire and that I can share. The mix of the more practical Swedish and the flamboyant French gives a sense of everyday glamour and enjoyment. What is your basic philosophy when it comes to beauty? I usually compare it to diet – it is not something you do short term. You need to get it into your everyday life. To do this you need a good strategy and you also need to think long term and regularity. It is also important to adjust this to who you are as a person, your lifestyle and seasons. Your strategy should obviously be affected of whether you are a morning or evening person. Beauty should be practical as well as something to enjoy.
What do you think international visitors can learn from the site? It might be us Swedes that have more to learn from others, but we do have one thing and that is phenomenally good products that should get more attention internationally. I believe the products reflect our practical sense. It is neat and clean and the products are in focus instead of lifestyle, which is common with international brands. This is something I definitely want to promote. What is most interesting in beauty at the moment? It’s definitely the chemical/technical development of products that is fascinating right now. The new products, in hair as well as makeup, are incredibly good. This is obviously a development that comes from us as consumers gaining more knowledge and has higher demands on the products we buy. If they do not work we will not buy. Jean Pierre is not only writing about what he thinks is important but is more than happy to answer your questions concerning beauty. E-mail your questions to beauty@stockholmfashiondays.com and chances are high that they will appear with an answer in Jean Pierre´s Q&A section. Jean Pierre´s first beauty advice you can read HERE .
