Tomas Lenneryd has one of the most important jobs during fashion week. As head makeup artist for main sponsor Max Factor, it is his creativity and talent that makes every model who walks down the catwalk look perfect.
When it comes to finding the right makeup for a fashion show it is obviously important to find a balance between trends of the season and to create the desired image for the designer. Tomas´s job is to strike that balance and make everybody delighted. According to Tomas, next spring´s trend is quite with sun faded shades of turquoise and nut brown. However, this trend can also become more daring with a lot of early 80s inspiration. When it comes to creating and working with a trend, it’s important to be flexible enough to be either daring or gentle. Tomas calls it “swooshs” (go for it) and “washes” (gentle). Within this range there are a lot of expressions with which it is possible to please all the different designers. “There has to be room for interpretation so it is not only trend and season. It needs to be a combination of these and the label. The greatness is in the mix”, says Tomas. When it comes to makeup, the most important thing is not the colour but the base (ie foundation and concealer) which is there to enhance them. “The base is 60-70% of the makeup”, explains Tomas. Tomas tips: * Do not neglect the base, i.e. concealer and foundation, since it literally is the foundation for good makeup. A good tip is to start with the foundation and then apply concealer. Doing it the other way around will ruin all your hard work of carefully applied concealer. * Curl your eyelashes – it gives a huge wow factor to the eyes. Waterproof mascara helps to keep the lashes curled. * Match cheek and lip colour to look fabulously groomed. * Always have a “Greige” eye shadow available. Greige is a colour in between grey and beige. It works for business as well as a hot date. It may look boring on the shelf but is extremely effective when being worn. As the main sponsor of Sthlm Fashion Week by Berns since the start in 2006, Max Factor continues their long-standing involvement this season with strong financial support and commitment. Being “The Make-up Of Make-up Artists”, the world of fashion is a natural arena for Max Factor and the market leading company does not only focus on Stockholm, but is also one of the top sponsors of Milan Fashion Week.
