These days it’s hard to avoid shopping second-hand compared to ten years ago when little shops of vintage were hard to come by. The vintage shops are popping up on every other street corner regardless which part of Stockholm you´re in.
Biblioteksgatan has always been a rather exclusive shopping street. It really used to be the Bond Street of Stockholm – a rather tired street where well situated ladies could go down and buy their jewelleries and their Chanel suits.
Götgatsbacken is one of those areas that seem to be able to revitalise all the time. You will always find a number of good shops here and with quite a mix as well – from cheap and cheerful at H&M to chic and expensive at c/o Stockholm. With this vast number of good shops mixed with a number of trendy coffee shops you can most definitely spend a good part of the day on this one street.
It all started with a few coffee shops around Nytorget (no – not the Dutch ones…) and Tjallamalla and then it started to grow to become one of the hottest shopping districts in northern Europe. Sofo stands for South of Folkungatan, which is one of the main streets at Södermalm.
