It was Karin Jimfelt-Ghatan from Odd Molly that won this year´s Guldknappen, Sweden´s most prestigious fashion award. The award ceremony was held at Cirkus in Stockholm and was followed by a phenomenal show produced by Jonas Hallberg.
Karin started Odd Molly together with Per Holknekt in 2002. They had both worked with different fashion labels but had ideas that they wanted to realize and this is most definitely something they have managed to do.
Odd Molly has not always been well received by the Swedish fashion media but they have always been loved by the consumers. Their identity where colour and rich patterns are the base for very feminine collections did not seem to have a place on the Swedish fashion arena. This has changed over the years though and with this award they are most certainly recognized even by the most hard core fashionistas.
The jury´s motivation: “This year´s Guldknappen winner is more than a label. It is a concept, it´s own timeless style. A proof that fashion fairy tales can become true. The winner has managed to take the feeling of a quiet Sunday morning and turn it into clothes loved by women of all ages. She has swept the floor with the competitors, nationally as well as internationally. We honour Karin Jimfelt-Ghatan for Odd Molly that has given the modern folklore a new successful face.”
