Normally only one graduate is awarded with the Swedish Fashion Councils scholarship but this year they decided to give it to two students. Frida Hofslagare from Beckans School of Design and Elin Svensson from School of Textile in Borås were awarded for their graduate collection.
Frida Hofslagare´s graduate collection circles around a surreal fashion house where accessories have an integrated role. Dress and shoes in one garment as well as a jacket with built in purse are examples of accessocies with extra effect. Link details make you think of a classic Channel bag.
Elin Svensson´s collection "Bräckt" is based on her cultural heritage, the fisherman culture and environment around Ålakusten. The location has inspired in several ways, both as an expression and as a way of working with the garments.
The Swedish Fashion Councils scholarship was founded in 2003. The following students have been awarded previous years: Angelica Grimborg 2003, Helena Hörstedt 2004, Magdalena Säfqvist 2005, Annika Engdahl 2006, Lisa Billvik 2007.
